Admissions Policy
Students desiring admission to Cleveland Central Catholic High School must cooperate with our stated philosophy based on Catholic Christianity; they must be able to handle the academic program; they must give evidence of being responsibility for their own learning; and they must possess the necessary financial resources to be able to pay tuition on a regular basis.
The curriculum of Cleveland Central Catholic High School is composed of college preparatory, comprehensive, and business programs. Programs for learning disabled and developmentally handicapped students are also available. Cleveland Central Catholic is a comprehensive high school which accepts students of varying academic abilities with diverse ethnic, economic, religious and cultural backgrounds. All students are expected to participate actively and seriously in all phases of the religious and academic programs.
Elementary school records are evaluated on grades and standardized test scores; conduct, effort, responsibility, attendance and elementary principal and/or teacher recommendations. Public or other private school students are required to send the records from their respective schools as well as a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor. Students of other faiths are accepted into the school provided they agree to take the required religion program which is mandatory for all students. Final decision for admittance is determined by the Admissions Committee.
Priority is given, whenever possible, to brothers and sisters of students who have or are attending the school.
Students are generally accepted as freshmen in order to benefit from the total four-year educational program.
Admissions Procedure
Applicants from Catholic Elementary Schools: Students currently attending Catholic elementary schools follow the regular diocesan policy. Applications are distributed to eighth grade students in January. Students interested in Cleveland Central Catholic should indicate that CCCHS is their first choice on this high school application. These applications will then be forwarded to Cleveland Central Catholic and reviewed by the Admissions Committee. If the student is accepted they will be notified within the allotted time set by the Diocese of Cleveland.
If a student is not accepted, their records will be forwarded to the student’s second choice school as indicated on the high school application.
Applicants from Public and Private Schools: Applications may be obtained from Cleveland Central Catholic’s Admissions Office. The application must be returned with the above mentioned information. After application is made the student’s request is reviewed using the same criteria as that for students from Catholic elementary schools.
