Congratulations to CCC Student Artists

CCC Art Students

Congratulations to the Cleveland Central Catholic High School students who won 2023 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The most prestigious competition in the United States for high school students. This competition which began in 1923 has many famous recipients including Andy Warhol, Philip Perlstein and Langston Hughes.
This year CCCHS had five winning works of art submitted by four of our students in the show. Senior Elijah Reese won top honors, the Gold Key award, for his entire art portfolio and an Honorable mention for his painting “Afternoon Sip”. Another award-winning Senior Mylia Jones, won Honorable Mention for her self-portrait titled “Me, Me and More Me”, Senior Jarel Soto, an excellent draftsman, won an Honorable Mention for his outstanding self-portrait titled “Self Portrait in Black and White”, rounding out the winners is Sophomore Jayla Davis for her watercolor painting about the Covid Pandemic titled “Disconnected”. The exhibition opens January 14th with an awards ceremony as the Cleveland Institute of Art. Congratulations to all the winners.
